Introduced during the 1970s as a successor to the TEP60, the type became closely associated with long-distance passenger trains across the USSR and several successor states.

This TheFalseArchive artwork imagines a TEP70-style locomotive in a striking red, orange, white and cream livery. Its wide windscreens, angular body, prominent central headlight and streamlined passenger-locomotive proportions capture the visual atmosphere of late Soviet railway design and high-powered diesel traction.

As with many TheFalseArchive designs, this artwork is not intended to depict a specific real locomotive, official operator livery or documented historical configuration. It is inspired by the real TEP70, but it is intentionally not a fully accurate technical reproduction.
